Again this year, I will be participating in the Pedal the Cause bike challenge on September 22 in hopes of raising funds needed for cancer research. This will be my 10th year, and each year I tell you about my journey with cancer, but this year I want to focus on those around me. No one is exempt from the possibility of being touched by this disease, and too many people I know and love have been forced to deal with it. In my husband's family of five, four members were touched. In my immediate family, my mother, my father, two of my sisters, and I have all been touched. And there are so, so many extended family and friends who are either currently struggling or have struggled in the past with cancer.
Every single person reading this knows someone who is currently fighting, who has passed, or who was fortunate enough to have beaten cancer. Research has helped advance medical treatments by leaps and bounds, and many patients are being saved, but there is still so much more to learn. Research is the key, and research takes a lot of money. This is why I ride each year. I ask each of you to please consider donating to this necessary cause. Pedal the Cause will give 100% of whatever you donate to the life-saving research being done at Siteman Cancer Center or Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
PLEASE consider making a donation. No donation is too small, and every donation is truly appreciated. Thank you all so much for what you have contributed in the past, and one day, hopefully, this fundraiser will no longer be needed.
