This is my 11th year supporting , Pedal the Cause.
11 years since Barb passed away from gastric cancer in just 6 short months. We have had the fortune to move forward with our lives , while not always sunshine and rainbows, we pushed forward.
This summer I faced a huge hurdle , I crashed at a weekly training race and broke my pelvis basically in half! I gained a new perspective on what it’s like to be laying in bed, unable to care for yourself , relying on others. How hard you have to work for little victories, painful setbacks,… I had the fortune to know I was going to be OK. Not everyone has that gift given to them.
I’ve sat beside my loved one when they were told , “ we’ve done everything…” my hope is that me riding my bike , supported by donations from my ( dysfunctional ) family, will continue the world leading research and development of treatments and cures for all types of cancer.
