Story

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

My love for riding a bike can help raise money to one day I pray find a cure for the evil of Cancer.  As I work daily in the pharmacy industry I see the daily struggle of so many cancer patients and their family with the toll it takes on them physically and mentally but also the toll of the cost of medicine.  Cancer has taken the lives of several of our family members and friends.  Just this week we lost another friend who was our age to cancer and to see the fight she fought for several years was humbling.  I have also witnessed  many people in my life who have beat this evil disease and are ultimate survivors!

The team that I ride on is Can't Stop Colin-St Louis Blues...Colin was diagnosed as a young boy and has beat stage IV Medulloblastoma brain cancer. He truly is inspiring and an incredible young man who is out to change the world with his whit and charm.

I also ride for my Mom Mary Wikoff-She is a breast cancer survivor and went into the diagnosis of cancer head on with the will to fight and with Christ as her Strength!  She has been one of my biggest supporters in my ride to find a cure every year!!

I also ride for my Sister In Law Betty Wikoff who is also a breast cancer survivor.  She always said that the big "C"  wasn't cancer to her but Christ whom was way bigger than "C" could ever be in her life!!  Truly these two ladies are ultimate survivors!

Also to the ones who I have lost to cancer my Grandfather Robert Henderson who was given months to live yet 18 years later he fought the fought daily to prove he was bigger than cancer could ever be in his life.  We truly did see the research that was put into his type of cancer and the different treatments that he underwent daily down at Big Barnes Hospital downtown STL.

Also my Godfather Donald Henderson another true cancer warrior and fighter to the very last breath.  Lived with so many surgeries and skin grafts and treatments to fight the fight on a daily basis.

Also my Father In Law Albinus Orf who fought the fight for so many years and did many experimental treatments not knowing if it was going to give him months or years to live and he lived several years past his diagnosis which gave him much needed time with his 8 boys and wife.

There are so many others I could list but those are my top family members whom I admire beyond imagine!  I pray that my simple act of riding my bike 100 miles can one day lead to finding a cure so that the future of our lives won't look so dim to the angst of Cancer.

Thank you for your donation and please pray for my 100 mile ride success!!

I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGHTNS ME!!!
