Pedal the Cause

`I am incredibly proud to join Pedal the Cause again this year in the fight against cancer.

Quite simply, I am riding and fundraising to help Siteman Cancer Center continue the work it does to give people hope.  Like their amazing team did for my wife and I almost two years ago, their tireless research is the reason thousands of people will get the hope they need to fight these terrible cancers.

Karen's diagnosis of incurable Mantle Cell Lymphoma in August of 2022 set off a flurry of doctor's visits, fear and internet education.  As I looked to understand what we were up against and become her best partner, I immediately got online and tried to learn all that I could.  Huge mistake.  As her oncologist told me at our next visit, the research is advancing at such a fast pace that anything older than a couple of months is out of date.  So I was learning about the prognosis patients 5 to 10 years ago received from this terrible disease and it wasn't good.

But today, she is over one year into remission with the hope of many more to come and living her life to the fullest thanks to the research Siteman conducts every day.
