Story

Again this year I will ride for Team Victoria.  I ride again representing The Moog Center for Deaf Education and the Moog Center family.  I continue to dedicate my ride to those very special people from the Moog Center who have been affected by cancer. I ride in memory of Karen Igou, who was the first Toddler Class teacher at the Moog Center. Karen set the standard high for our Toddler Class teachers and she has been a hard act to follow. Karen was an incredible asset to the Moog Center and we miss her terribly.  I ride in memory of Margaret Schutte, who was the assistant to my mother, Jean Moog, the Founding Director of the Moog Center. Margaret was my mother's right hand gal and although her memory is strong at the Moog Center, her absence is a great loss. I ride in memory of Chris Davidson. Chris was the husband of my dear friend, Anne, who is a teacher at the Moog Center. Chris lost a 5 year battle to brain cancer. His family founded the Christopher Davidson Endowed Forum for Brain Tumor Research  to help support brain cancer research at Washington University.  I will ride in memory of James Bennight, the husband of Rhonda who I have worked with for over 30 years and the father of Tabitha who was a part of the Moog Family for more than 10 years. And, I ride for Peter M. Peter is an alumnus of the Moog Center, who attended the Moog Center until he entered the general education setting in fall of 2022 to join his peers for Kindergarten. In the spring of 2023, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Peter continues to live his life with a sparkle in his eye, in spite of the challenges he now faces daily. I ride to honor Peter, his hope, and his bravery. And, I ride in memory of Victoria. Victoria was the daughter of my cousin, Julie, and was the Lead Teacher in one of our Toddler Classrooms at the Moog Center. She was an amazing example of hope and perseverance. She was an amazing example of strength and overcoming obstacles. And, for years she benefited from research made possible by funding provided by Pedal the Cause. Victoria was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Please make a contribution to support my ride and to support Pedal the Cause and Cancer Research.  Victoria remains in our hearts and is missed Every. Single. Day.

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
