7 years cancer FREE! 2016 routine bloodwork and the concern of my wonderful PA Micah Oakley resulted in a diagnosis of a Neuroendrocrine tumor (NET) in my small intestines/pancreas. I had major surgery, a Whipple procedure by an amazing Wash U surgeon, Dr William Hawkins removing the tumor, a portion of small intestines and pancreas, my gallbladder, and several lymph nodes (8 were malignant). Like many whom have had a cancer battle, the months of waiting and the unknown is debilitating within itself. I was blessed to celebrate my 40th wedding anniversary that same year, walk our daughter down the aisle and then eventually hold and enjoy our wonderful grandchildren now 3 and 5. Life doesn’t slow down for anyone and cancer impacts so many. I will be riding 30 miles this year!
I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.
Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
