Pedal the Cause

Team Desloge (/Solomon) is riding again. We ride to honor the memory of Rick Desloge, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer 12 years ago. We also ride in memory of Ruth Solomon, who also died of this awful disease three years ago. Both were treated at Siteman Cancer Center.
 
When Rick was told he was out of treatment options for his cancer, he was angry that he would not live to achieve three goals. He wanted to win a Pulitzer Prize, and as a gifted journalist already had captured the top SABEW award given for business reporting. He wanted to ride the Katy Trail all the way across Missouri, although he had loved riding pieces of that trail. And, most importantly, Rick wanted to live to see a test to detect pancreatic cancer early, when it is most treatable.
 
We ride in hopes of fulfilling Rick’s dream of earlier detection for pancreatic cancer. All of the money raised by Pedal the Cause goes for cancer research at Siteman and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. We hope the team of gifted scientists, who already have been funded through Pedal to study multiple treatment options for pancreatic cancer, cracks the code to diagnose pancreatic cancer early.
 
Pancreatic cancer is a really nasty disease, on target to become the second deadliest cancer. We’ve got to fix that – in memory of Rick Desloge, Ruth Solomon and others who were taken from us. Please join us in riding on Team Desloge/Solomon or by donating to our cause.
