Pedal the Cause

My mom supported St. Jude's throughout her life.  There was something about a child battling cancer (or for that matter any illness) that broke her heart.  As I am my "mother's daughter", I share the same feelings.   While attending the University of Iowa, my daughters Michelle and Katie were active participants and worked on the leadership team to support the University of Iowa's Dance Marathon.  The Iowa students dance for 24 hours to raise money for Pediatric Cancer Research and to provide direct support for families with children battling cancer at the University of Iowa Hospital.  I was proud and excited to support them in their fund raising efforts and attended many of the events in person.  It is quite a moving experience as families take the stage and acknowledge what the fund raising dollars have done for their families specifically.  

This year I am  excited to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer with my daughter Katie Brumit.  Katie is a pediatric oncology nurse at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.  She provides skilled and compassionate  care to her pediatric patients  and their families during the most challenging of circumstances.  I am proud to say she is my daughter. Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. I would love for Katie to be able to tell all the children she treats and their families that there is a cure for their cancer.
