I am proud to join Pedal the Cause again this year and ride alongside my family and friends to help in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.
Pedal became an important part of our family when my brother-in-law Curt, first rode 10 years ago. My sister had just been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and tested BRCA-1 positive. It turned our world upside down. We have participated in one way or another since that first year. Last year the boys and I drove to St. Louis to ride in person with our team, The Mud and The Muck. It was especially important to use because a few short months before my mom, the boys Nanny, was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma. Mom has been receiving her treatments at Siteman Cancer center and thanks to the incredible advances in technology and treatment we are so happy to say she is doing better than we could have hoped. We thank God every day for this blessing and for the doctors, nurses and researchers who are saving her life. This year is the 15th anniversary of Pedal the Cause, and I am so proud that the boys and I will again be riding.
I hope that you will consider supporting my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Together we can make a difference and help get one day closer to a world without cancer.
