I am joining the fight against cancer by participating in the 15th-annual Pedal the Cause bike challenge. Pedal the Cause has the mission to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through their annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.
The first year ride was for my father who had reoccurring lung cancer, I lost my father shortly after the second years ride, I continue to ride for my father, all my friends, family and coworkers who have lost a loved one to cancer or who are currently fighting the disease.
May 2013 had a new meaning for me, I was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. I had surgery on June 21, 2013 to remove the melanoma and two lymph nodes. As I sat in my doctors office and looked around at all the people that are affected by cancer, I realized how lucky I am to have a clear and clean report. So what I have learned is that life can change in an instant for anyone! As of August 2018 everything is clear. 2023 I was diagnosed again with melanoma on my scalp, 10 years to the day 6/21/23 surgery, skin graft and 15 lymph nodes removed. Reports came back negative!
Please help me in this journey to find a cure by donating to my ride. I have committed to raise $2500 for cancer research and 100% of your donation will go to directly to this cause.
I plan to ride on September 22nd and I hope you will join me in this grass-roots effort to advance research and find a cure.
I am also riding in memory for a friend and co-worker David Hopper who we lost 3/15/19 after a long courageous battle. I also ride for my friend Bill Grebenc who recently battled cancer and is in remission.
