If you are short on time, please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser. Give with confidence, knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center.

Got a minute? Then here is the scoop.

I didn't know Kyle well.  We worked together at Edward Jones but traveled in different circles, supporting various efforts but never crossing paths.  We didn't have a lot in common, but we had everything in common.  My first glimpse into his battle was my good friend Emery Skolfield pulling off his shirt "WWE" style at a Partners Meeting and proudly sharing his "Team Kyle" shirt.  It became clear to me that Kyle was fighting for his life.  He fought bravely, but the help or treatment he needed arrived too late, and he passed away in 2023.  Kyle's widow, Kira, is an unstoppable force who fought alongside him to the end.  Her battle was with pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, and bureaucracy.  She fought just as hard as Kyle but in very different ways.  She is still fighting, and that is where we come in.

The cancer prevailed in the end despite the valiant efforts, but this story is not over, and all is not lost.  Kira and the fantastic doctors at Siteman delivered a treatment that could have saved Kyle's life if it had been early enough.  Let's help bring this specific treatment to clinical trials by helping "Team Kyle" raise 1MM. This a unique and specific one-time opportunity!

I never back down from a fight and don't let people fight alone.  I am returning my bike to "Pedal for a Cause" and requesting your financial support.  I am committed to raising $25,064.00 because I, too, hate cancer, and I don't like bullies.  I am also looking for ten riders passionate about ending GI Cancers to raise $2,500 each through a ride or an event before 10/31.

I attended Kyle's funeral Service at the Crossing.  It was good for me to see and hard for me to see.  The good reminded me that each day is a gift and needs to be treated that way.  The hard part reminded me that sometimes the good die young, and there is just nothing we can do about that.   Kyle was not able to get the timely help he needed to fight GI Cancer.  Let's make sure that NEVER happens again.  There are times I need to accept the current reality, and there are times I need to fight.  This sounds like a good time to fight.
